FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 29, 2020

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Local nonprofit, Yoga 4 Change (Y4C), founded March 1st of 2014 turns 6 years old on Sunday. Yoga 4 Change invites the community to come out and celebrate the organization’s birthday the best way Y4C knows how: yoga for everyBODY! Join the community at Cultivate (2766 Park St, Jacksonville FL 32205) for community yoga from 10am-11am on the organization’s sixth birthday (March 1). Donations are accepted, and all funding raised will be used to fund evidence-based programming for veterans, incarcerated individuals, youth and those in recovery. All are welcome to attend the yoga class. Yoga 4 Change will bring some mats for those who do not have them. After class, continue the celebration by going to eat at Southern Roots Filling Station. For the entire month of March, in both locations, Southern Roots will donate $1 for every ‘Blisscuit’ ordered.

Executive Director and Founder, Kathryn Thomas, never envisioned the organization growing to impact four separate regions in the state of Florida. “Because Yoga 4 Change partnered with local businesses like Southern Roots and Cultivate, the small business felt an increase in revenue, and Yoga 4 Change was able to educate new community members about our mission,” says Thomas. “Six years ago when Yoga 4 Change was founded, I never imagined the organization would expand into as many communities as we currently serve, or have the opportunity to partner with amazing local businesses. I am grateful for the community support, and the expansion we have been able to achieve through partnerships and collaborations.”

During 2019, Yoga 4 Change partnered with 32 small business raising over $12,500 dollars. The organization was able to use these dollars raised to assist in funding programming benefitting veterans and incarcerated individuals. Since inception, the organization has partnered with over ninety different nonprofits, governmental agencies, for profit businesses and community organizations. Currently, Yoga 4 Change contracts with fifty various yoga teachers, and has a staff of five full-time employees. “I am proud of the work Yoga 4 Change is able to accomplish daily, because of the strong organizational foundation created in partnership and collaboration,” said Yoga 4 Change’s Director of Development, Breanna Tivvis,  “I am hopeful that 2020 will be another strong year for the organization, allowing us to increase our impact both locally and regionally because of our partnerships with local businesses. I have set a goal to raise a total of $30,000 during 2020 because of Yoga 4 Change partnering with local businesses – $30,000 dollars raised would cover 200 classes during 2021. I and the Yoga 4 Change team, are looking for new ideas to bring the community together, while giving back to our students.” If a local business is interested in collaborating with Yoga 4 Change, no matter how large or small – please email info@y4c.org.

In 2019, Yoga 4 Change served over thirteen-thousand unique individuals by offering yoga classes inside facilities that serve the nonprofit’s four distinct populations: veterans, incarcerated individuals, youth and those in recovery.
