Yoga 4 Change partners with Kodawari Studios for First Tampa Fundraiser
TAMPA, FL – Yoga 4 Change (Y4C) will host their first fundraising event in the Tampa Bay area in collaboration with Kodawari Studios on Saturday, March 21st. The workshop-style event, titled ‘Chaturanga 4 Change’, will be taught by Yoga 4 Change teachers and will include a yoga flow with various breaks for rest and raffle giveaways. The event begins at 1pm and will start with a break down of the well-known yoga posture, chaturanga (or low push up). The yoga practice will be made accessible to all with modifications and guidance. Following the class, participants can plan to hang around for food, drinks and community building.
Yoga 4 Change was founded in 2014 in Jacksonville, FL and expanded to three new regions in 2019 including South Florida, Central Florida and Tampa Bay. “We are really grateful to be a part of the Tampa Bay community and to have found such great partnerships,” said Regional Director of Programming, Susie Rokosch, LCSW. Rokosch moved to Tampa in 2019 to facilitate the start-up of Y4C programming made possible by a grant through the Florida Blue Foundation in partnership with Gateway Community Services. The intention and objective of the grant is to study the impact Y4C programming has on the opioid crisis and those in recovery. Currently Yoga 4 Change programming is being offered in recovery centers throughout Tampa and St. Petersburg, as well as South Florida, Central Florida and North Florida. The research for all Y4C programming is done in collaboration with Boston University and Dr. Danielle Rousseau.
Kodawari Studios mission is community and connection. Their wellness center offers yoga seven days a week, as well as other modalities like bodywork, acupuncture, and floating. Kodawari also offers their space for events and community building. “The yoga studios in Tampa have really welcomed us with open arms,” said Breanna Tivvis, Director of Development, “Kodawari has supported our work and believed in our impact since day one. I, and the entire Yoga 4 Change team, am excited to collaborate with the studio in an effort to build awareness, raise funds and promote yoga for everybody.”
‘Chaturanga 4 Change’ has been supported by multiple businesses, including raffle giveaways from businesses such as lululemon athletica and Nike, as well as fifty bottles of local kombucha from Mother Kombucha. The purchase of a ticket ($35) includes the three hour workshop, one raffle ticket, food and drinks after class and a donation to Y4C.
