My Pathway to Yoga

“ It is always darkest before the dawn.” A quote by Bill W. the founder of Alcoholic Anonymous.

Back on the Mat, Back into Life

“I hope to not only stay with the alumni program through Y4C, but to also become a part of the team some day. I believe in the purpose, and the passion here. I believe my story will help me to be an example to those who may feel hopeless when coming onto the mat for the first time (or like me, coming back onto it). I hope to reflect this in my teaching, anywhere I teach; the belief that anybody, and I do mean any body, can do yoga.”

“I’m so proud of myself for getting here”

“I fell in love with yoga about a year ago, and now here I am.” As I sit here and reflect though, I know that nothing could be further from the truth. I know that my journey was actually a long and windy one.

‘My Journey to Becoming a Yoga Teacher’

“Even when self doubt creeps in, or I wonder where this journey will take me, I know that learning to teach yoga from a trauma informed lens will allow me to create a positive space where students will be able to come as they are…”

4,267 Days Ago

“What made me interested in Yoga 4 Change and the Trauma Informed Yoga certification you may ask. This journey goes back 4,267 days to April 12th, 2009.”

Just Be.

“I have always wanted to share how yoga has taken a busy mind like mine and given it a safe space to just be. I want to share this gift that I’ve been given with others, and Yoga 4 Change is giving me the opportunity to do that.”

Yoga 4 Change turns 7

On March 1, 2021, Yoga 4 Change turns 7. Join us for a virtual birthday party with a one-hour yoga class taught by Founder and Executive Director, Kathryn Thomas.

Note: This will be one of Kathryn’s last classes before leaving the organization in April.

Ann’s Journey to Finding her Circle

“If it weren’t for yoga I honestly believe I would not have made it through prison, and I am not alone….Returning to the real world has been wonderful and, at times, challenging. But having my yoga practice with me has made all the difference in the world. I am in my circle.”

Enough is Enough

The first time I practiced yoga was many seasons ago. I will never forget that day because I was so relaxed in Savasana (final resting pose), I fell asleep. I woke up when the lights were turned on. I was embarrassed and didn’t practice for a while.
